It's just a different requirement so we made design concessions to maximize vision. In Vox, we needed to provide a larger FoV for seeing enemies both above and below you. So you can go pretty much as big and bulky as you want without impeding vision. In most cases with fighter jets (and even Tanks) as opposed to Vox, your vision isn't blocked by instruments and joysticks because there are no windows for seeing below the horizon. The way it stands right now I find myself using either an xBox controller or KB/Mouse so I don't keep missing the throttle/steering.Īnother option would be to support the sticks on the WMR controllers, but I know there are few of us mixed reality users out there compared to vive/rift. If there was a way to rebind the controls so that one could use something like this ( ) with the sticks located near where they appear in game, perhaps mounted to an office chair or on a table on front of the player, then the level of immersion would be even higher as well as no longer making a choice between immersion and game difficulty. The use of two different in game sticks (on the same hand) for steering and throttle appears to be a compromise for these controls? The motion controls work ok, except that without tactile feedback I keep having to look and see where my hands are relative to the sticks which greatly hurts gameplay. Playing with both tactile feedback while keeping the immersion of seeing your real movements reflected in game is amazing.įor Vox, the in game controls don't match real life controllers very well and only xbox/ps4 style controllers appear to be supported aside from motion controls. I've spent a good amount of time in sims like iRacing/Dirt/pCars and Elite Dangerous, and one of the coolest things about playing those in VR is when you have the proper controllers. The only downside seemed to be that I couldn't find a good mix between usable controls (for competitive purposes) and immersion. Last night I loaded up the game for the first time and was almost immediately blown away with how fluid and natural the game played and felt.
